[shared_counts]Even after all of those holiday decorations come down, Manhattan is a magical place to be in the winter. Blankets of snow and sheets of ice lend the streets even more radiance, and there are countless occasions and activities to enjoy in January and February. Some of these diversions, like skating at Rockefeller Center, are iconic. Others, such as the following examples, may be less well known, but are no less special.
Each year, Restaurant Week takes place between mid-January and early February. Hundreds of fine establishments throughout the city participate in it, offering exquisite meals at steep discounts. Thus, it’s a terrific opportunity to sample new dishes and unfamiliar cuisines. For the most part, Saturdays are not part of this event, and it’s always a good idea to make reservations. If you end up missing the winter event, there’s also a Restaurant Week in July and August.
Grand Central Terminal is much more than a transportation hub. It includes a range of stores and restaurants. On top of that, between the middle of November and middle of February, you can behold the New York Transit Museum’s Holiday Train Show at this station. Its extensive model railroad displays are incredibly detailed, and they depict city as well as rural life. As a bonus, it’s obviously easy to get to Grand Central from any point in the city.
New York City is a haven for decadent and creative hot chocolate blends. You can sip especially scrumptious and thick versions of this beverage at the Upper East Side’s famous Serendipity 3 and NoHo’s Jacques Torres Chocolate. However, if you’d rather warm the outside of your body than the inside, you can look for an inviting Manhattan hot tub. At The Standard Hotel, which is also located in NoHo, there’s a trendy bar called Le Bain. It’s on the 18th floor, and its roomy tub is next to the dance floor.
