[shared_counts]New York winters can be brutal, and those cold days can weigh you down. There’s nothing better than having a place where you can get a cold weather treat to help you get through those days when it seems the cold is not your friend. If you’re in Midtown, here are three great places that are sure to put a smile on your face:
601 Lexington Avenue, Midtown East
Known for their great grilled cheese sandwich that comes with a variety of cheeses, maple syrup and bacon. If you’re watching your waistline, you may be in trouble but it’s definitely a go-to place to get something good, gooey and warm during those cold weather spells. You can also try the fried chicken breast sandwich grilled between two slices of sourdough bread with creamy pepper jack and blue cheese spread and a spicy buffalo sauce, or the Shop Tots, served hot with parmesan cheese sprinkled over the top. It’s their NYC version of the tater tot.

If you’re in the mood for something different and just want a place to grab a quick bite and something to warm you up as you continue your day, try stopping by Hole in the Wall to grab a quick bite and have an Aussie-style coffee experience. Tucked away in the lobby of an office building, it can literally be considered a “hole in the wall,” but is known for its excellent coffee and baked goods.
210 W. 10th Street
When it’s cold outside, there’s nothing better than hot, piping mac ‘n cheese to help you brave the weather and give your insides a good, warm thaw. Westville offers a mac ‘n cheese disk that’s creamy, rich and filling with a sprinkling of bacon if you wish. Made with twisted macaroni noodles, gouda béchamel and a New York flair, you’ll have plenty of sustenance to stick to your bones as you head back out into the chill. A hit in the Midtown area, they have multiple locations in Manhattan.
Whether you’re visiting or a native, finding good places to enjoy a treat even in the cold weather months can be fun. Now you can add three new places to your list of go-to spots where the weather won’t even seem to matter.
