[shared_counts]Philadelphia apartments offer perks all through the year, and the period between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day is no exception. Indeed, during the holidays, there seems to be even more brotherly ― and sisterly ― love in the air.
When you live in one of Philly’s apartment rentals, you’re near seasonal concerts, special theatrical shows and exciting shopping events. The following experiences are terrific examples.
For many people, it’s just not the holidays without “The Nutcracker.” The version that the renowned Philadelphia Dance Academy stages each year at the Mandell Theater is sumptuous. This show features hard-working members of the Philadelphia Youth Ballet. Their talents are inspiring, and for many of those young performers, this production is something they’ll never forget.

The night when Fitler Square first turns on its Christmas lights is a joyful and intimate occasion. Families carry candles. Singers from the Philadelphia School perform, and guests are treated to cookies. And naturally, Santa Claus puts in an appearance.
At the “Comcast Holiday Spectacular,” cutting-edge technology meets old-fashioned showmanship. In the lobby of the Comcast Center, you can catch a 15-minute presentation on an enormous wall of LED screens. They happen 10 or 11 times a day. You’ll see footage of ballet dancers and ice skaters, and at certain points, you’ll feel like you’re swooping over the city. Throughout, the resolution is incredible.
The suburb of Ardmore is home to Cricket Cringle, a relatively new annual event that takes place downtown. On a Friday and Saturday in early December, you can visit dozens of stations that local businesses set up. As you stroll around, you can sample roast chestnuts and delicacies from area restaurants, browse through merchandise, have your presents wrapped and listen to carolers. You might feel as though you’ve stepped into a Charles Dickens story.
This retail extravaganza occurs during the first weekend of December. At the Northern Liberties Holiday Shopping Spree, you could take advantage of progressive discounts at a variety of charming and independently owned stores. Buy gifts for many people on your list, and enjoy light snacks at each participating boutique that you visit.
