[shared_counts]It’s a new year, and that means it’s time for a new set of resolutions. If you’re like most people, you create a wellness goal on January 1st, and then find it hard to stick to the plan. Why not set yourself up for success by setting a realistic goal made easier by everyday access to the tools you need? In Philly, setting a wellness goal is as easy as resolving to eat organic this year.
When you live in a Carlyle property in downtown Philadelphia, including the Papermill Lofts, you’re within close distance to some of the city’s best organic grocers. Trade a few cheesesteaks for organic veggies this year and prepare to enjoy the way your pants fit a little looser. Here are some of the best places to pick up organic food downtown.
This market is on South 11th Street and has been bringing fresh organic produce to the East Coast since 1987. The produce is all verified 100 percent organic and they don’t carry anything with artificial flavors, high fructose corn syrup or bleached flour. MOM’s even uses a solar farm to harvest their crops, so you can shop knowing you’re doing good for your body and the planet.
This friendly market in Chestnut Hill is great if you want to go organic and you’re working on a budget. Nearly all of their products are sourced locally or regionally, and they aim to purchase from small businesses and independent retailers. Stop in for fair-trade coffee beans, bakery goods, produce, flowers, seafood and more.
Sue’s Produce Market in Rittenhouse Square is known for its fresh herbs, jams and organic salad dressing. The market is cash-only, so leave your credit card at home, but do bring a large cloth bag to bring home a healthy haul of portabella mushrooms, peeled garlic, scallions and Asian pears.
Eating organic in downtown Philly is as easy as making friends with your local grocery so they hide the best fruit in the back until you arrive. While living downtown gives you access to plenty of indulgences, it also makes it easy to achieve your healthy eating goals!
