[shared_counts]Undoubtedly Philadephia’s most fashionable neighborhood, Rittenhouse Square sits on some of the most desirable property in the entire city. It’s one of the original squares planned by city founder William Penn in the late 17th century, and the area is chock-full of gorgeous luxury apartments, high-rises, European-feeling cafes and boutiques. All these amenities are nestled around the beautiful green park, which residents and visitors alike can enjoy for a bit of respite from the bustling cityscape surrounding it. Anyone searching for Philadelphia apartments or housing should consider looking in Rittenhouse Square.
The layout of Rittenhouse makes it very appealing, as there are walkways across the park so residents in any of the neighborhood apartments can take a leisurely stroll through on their way to and from work. You’ll find many locals lounging on the park benches and relaxing with friends, as it’s one of the most peaceful spots in the city. Throughout the year, the park hosts flower markets and art shows – for the best experience, try to catch them early in the morning before the crowds arrive.
Daytime in Rittenhouse Square is a lovely time to catch up with friends and enjoy the bright sunshine no matter what time of year, but it also lights up at night. Rittenhouse has nightlife in spades, with high quality restaurants and bars up and down every surrounding street. There are many excellent restaurants to choose from that stretch along the east side of the park, and your tastebuds will be beckoned by smells of steakhouses, French cafes and New American cuisine. After dinner, give yourself a chance to relax with a craft cocktail at one of the many neighborhood bars and lounges that have become super trendy in recent years.
In addition to the cuisine, shopping and nightlife, many people simply enjoy the wonderful history of Rittenhouse Square. Many of the buildings date back to the late 1700s, and Rittenhouse has been, without a doubt, Philly’s most haute-couture neighborhood since the mid-1800s. You’ll find signs of the old Victorian aristocracy throughout the area, including some of the gorgeous mansions and grand homes that line the beautiful square. It’s no wonder Rittenhouse is one of the most sought-after places to live in all of Philadelphia!
